Camp La Jolla Salutes Military Families with Fitness and Health Scholarships for Surviving Children of Military Parents
SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWeb) April 16, 2007 -- In honor of National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM), Camp La Jolla is proud to announce 5 Fitness and Health Scholarships for the surviving children of military men and women who have lost their lives as part of the global war on terror.
The purpose of the Camp La Jolla Fitness and Health Scholarship is to honor the sacrifice of the military men and women who lost their lives as part of America's war on terror, and providing support to the surviving military children by giving them an opportunity to participate in a healthy and positive summer fitness program and weight loss camp.
According to Nancy Lenhart, Founder and Executive Director of Camp La Jolla, "Many children use food as a coping mechanism when dealing with grief and loss. A child's grief may be compounded with weight issues and decreased self esteem. At Camp La Jolla, we want to help alleviate the stress grieving military children are coping with. Through the participation in our fitness and weight loss program children will experience the long term benefits of building self esteem, lasting friendships, increased health and fitness benefits, and summer fun in San Diego."
Camp La Jolla, located in San Diego, CA is awarding five 2 week fitness and health scholarships for the summer of 2007. Scholarships are valued at $3,095 each. In 2007 Camp La Jolla will award over $86,000 in camper scholarships. Camp La Jolla Fitness and Health Scholarships are open to surviving military children between the ages of 8-17. Camp La Jolla is accepting emails, essays, letters or videos describing why you, or a child you know, would benefit from a Camp La Jolla Fitness and Health Scholarship. All entries must be received by May 15, 2007. Winners will be announced on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2007. For more information visit: http://www.camplajolla.com/military_scholarship.html .
